Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to Wisprr: Voice Recorder & AI Transcriber ("Wisprr", "the app", "we", "us", or "our"), developed and published by Tony Stacks ("Developer").
Wisprr is a voice recording, AI transcription, and clipboard management application available on Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux. This Privacy Policy explains how we access, collect, use, store, share, and protect information when you use the app across any platform.
Our core privacy principle: Your voice data belongs to you. We design every feature with privacy as the default — not an afterthought. Audio recordings are processed for transcription and immediately discarded. Transcriptions are stored locally on your device. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
By downloading, installing, or using Wisprr, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Table of Contents
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you use Wisprr, you may provide the following information:
- Audio recordings you create within the app
- Transcribed text generated from your audio recordings
- Recording metadata (date, time, duration, file size, language detected)
- Notes, labels, or tags you attach to recordings
- App settings and preferences (language selection, transcription settings, overlay position)
- Support messages you send to us via email or in-app contact forms
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
Wisprr may automatically collect the following technical information:
- Device type and model (e.g., Samsung Galaxy S24, iPhone 15 Pro)
- Operating system version (e.g., Android 14, iOS 17, Windows 11)
- App version number
- Crash reports and error logs (used solely to fix bugs and improve stability)
- Performance diagnostics (e.g., transcription processing time, app load times)
- Installation and usage analytics provided by your device's app store (Google Play, Apple App Store, Microsoft Store)
1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
For complete transparency, the following information is never collected by Wisprr:
- Your precise or approximate location (GPS, IP-based, or cell tower)
- Your contacts, address book, or social graph
- Your browsing history, search history, or app usage outside Wisprr
- Your photos, videos, or files (unless you explicitly choose to export/share a transcription)
- Your financial information (all purchases are processed by your device's app store)
- Your health or fitness data
- Your government-issued IDs or personal identification numbers
- Your private messages or communications (outside of transcriptions you create)
- Biometric data (fingerprints, face data — handled entirely by your device OS)
- Advertising identifiers or tracking IDs
- Cookies or web tracking pixels
Key point: Wisprr does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or share any personal identification to use the app. You can use Wisprr completely anonymously.
2. Permissions We Request
Wisprr requests the following permissions to provide its core features. Each permission is used only for its stated purpose:
Microphone / Audio Input
RequiredRequired to record your voice. This is the core function of the app. Audio is captured locally on your device and is not streamed or transmitted to our servers in real-time.
Storage / Files and Media
RequiredRequired to save audio recordings and transcription files to your device's local storage. Also used to load existing recordings from your library.
Display Over Other Apps / Floating Window
OptionalRequired to show the floating recording overlay button on top of other applications. This allows you to start and stop recordings without switching away from your current app.
Accessibility Service (Android only)
OptionalUsed exclusively for the auto-paste feature, which pastes transcribed text into any focused text field. This permission allows the app to detect the currently focused text input and paste content. We do not use this permission to read screen content, track app usage, monitor keystrokes, or collect any data beyond what is needed for the paste functionality.
Notifications
OptionalUsed to notify you when a transcription is complete, when recording starts/stops, or for important app updates. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.
Foreground Service (Android only)
OptionalAllows the app to continue recording in the background while you use other applications. This is required for the floating overlay recording feature to work reliably.
Biometric Authentication (Fingerprint / Face ID)
OptionalIf you enable the app lock feature, biometric authentication is used to restrict access to the app. Biometric data is processed entirely by your device's operating system. Wisprr never receives, stores, or has access to your fingerprint, face data, or any biometric identifiers.
Internet / Network Access
OptionalRequired to send audio to Groq's Whisper API for AI transcription. Audio is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections and is immediately discarded after processing. The app can still record audio without an internet connection; transcription requires connectivity.
In-App Purchases / Billing
OptionalUsed to process purchases through your device's app store (Google Play Billing, Apple In-App Purchase). Wisprr does not process payments directly and never receives your payment card details.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
- To provide voice recording functionality and save recordings to your device
- To transcribe your audio recordings using Groq's Whisper AI model
- To display, search, and manage your transcription history within the app
- To provide auto-copy to clipboard functionality
- To provide auto-paste into text fields (when accessibility service is enabled)
- To display the floating overlay for quick recording access
- To send notifications about transcription status and recording activity
- To process purchases and manage subscription status through your app store
- To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve app stability and performance
- To respond to your support requests and provide customer assistance
- To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and Google Play / Apple App Store policies
- To improve the app's transcription accuracy, user interface, and overall experience
We do not use your information for: advertising, behavioral targeting, selling data to data brokers, building user profiles, training AI models (beyond the transcription processing performed by Groq), or any purpose unrelated to providing the app's functionality.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. Your voice recordings and transcriptions are never shared with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies.
Information may be shared only in the following limited circumstances:
Groq, Inc. (Transcription Processing)
When you request a transcription, your audio recording is sent securely over HTTPS to Groq's servers for AI-powered speech-to-text processing. Groq processes the audio in real-time and returns the transcription. The audio is immediately discarded after processing. Groq does not store your audio recordings or use them for any purpose other than providing the transcription service. Groq's privacy practices are governed by their own Privacy Policy.
Google Play / Apple App Store / Microsoft Store
Your device's app store may collect information about your installation, usage, purchases, ratings, and reviews. This is governed by the respective store's privacy policy. We may receive limited purchase status information (subscription state, product identifier, transaction status) to unlock paid features. We do not receive your payment card details.
Service Providers
We may use third-party service providers for app analytics, crash reporting, customer support, or hosting. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for the services they provide to us and not for any other purpose.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request. We may also disclose information to protect the rights, property, or safety of Wisprr, our users, or the public.
Business Transfers
If Wisprr is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and provide you with options regarding your data.
With Your Consent
We may share information with third parties when you explicitly choose to do so — for example, when you share a transcription via email, messaging apps, or cloud storage. You control these sharing actions.
5. Third-Party Services & SDKs
Wisprr may integrate with or use the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy:

6. Data Security Practices
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information:
Encryption in Transit
All audio sent to Groq's API for transcription is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.2 or higher), ensuring encryption during transmission.
Local-First Storage
Your transcriptions and recordings are stored locally on your device's encrypted storage (where the OS provides it). We do not maintain a cloud database of user data.
No Server-Side Storage
We do not store your audio recordings or transcriptions on our servers. Groq discards audio immediately after processing. We have no access to your transcriptions.
Minimal Data Collection
We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide the app's functionality. No personal identifiers, no tracking, no advertising IDs.
Important: While we use commercially reasonable security measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for protecting your device, screen lock, passwords, and any exported files. We recommend enabling your device's built-in encryption and using a strong screen lock.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
Audio Recordings (Local)
Stored on your device indefinitely until you manually delete them, reset the app, or uninstall the app.
Transcriptions (Local)

8. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
Regional Rights
European Economic Area (EEA) — GDPR
If you are located in the EEA, you have the rights described above under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The legal basis for our processing includes: (a) performance of our contract with you (providing the app), (b) your consent (for optional permissions), and (c) our legitimate interests (improving app stability). You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California, USA — CCPA/CPRA
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and share; the right to delete your personal information; and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Wisprr does not sell or share personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at progmammersohail.dev@gmail.com.
Other Jurisdictions
Other countries and regions may have data protection laws that grant you additional rights. We comply with applicable data protection laws in all jurisdictions where Wisprr is available.
In-App Controls
- • Delete recordings and transcriptions directly within the app
- • Export your transcription history as text files
- • Disable notifications through your device settings
- • Disconnect the accessibility service through your device settings
- • Revoke any permission through your device settings at any time
- • Cancel subscriptions through your app store account settings
9. Children's Privacy
Wisprr is a voice recording and transcription application intended for a general audience and is not designed specifically for children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction).
We do not knowingly collect, use, or share personal information from children under 13. Wisprr does not target children, does not contain child-directed content, and does not use any third-party services that are directed at children.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal information through Wisprr, please contact us immediately at progmammersohail.dev@gmail.com. We will take appropriate steps to delete such information from our systems.
10. International Data Transfers
Wisprr is a local-first application. The vast majority of your data (recordings, transcriptions, settings) never leaves your device.
When you use the AI transcription feature, your audio recording is transmitted to Groq's servers for processing. Groq is based in the United States, and your audio may be processed on servers located in the United States or other countries where Groq operates. This transfer is necessary to provide the transcription service.
By using the transcription feature, you consent to this transfer. The audio is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and is immediately discarded after processing. If you prefer not to have your data transferred internationally, you can use Wisprr's recording features without transcription — recordings will remain stored locally on your device.
11. Recording Consent & Legal Compliance
Wisprr is a voice recording and transcription tool. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the legal right to record conversations in your jurisdiction.
Recording laws vary by location:
- In some regions (e.g., California, Florida), all parties to a conversation must consent before recording ("two-party" or "all-party" consent states).
- In other regions (e.g., New York, Texas), only one party needs to consent ("one-party" consent states).
- International laws vary significantly. Some countries require explicit consent from all participants.
Wisprr displays a visible overlay indicator when recording is active to provide transparency to all parties. However, this does not constitute legal consent. You are solely responsible for complying with all applicable recording and wiretapping laws in your jurisdiction.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Notify you through the app (via a notification or in-app banner) if the changes are significant
- Post the updated policy on this page
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of Wisprr after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
