Security & data flow

Know where your voice data goes

Wisprr is a Windows client, not an offline transcription engine. Audio leaves the device when it is sent to Groq for processing. This page separates Wisprr's role from Groq's role so you can evaluate both before using the product with sensitive content.

Important limits

The website repository does not contain the separate desktop source code or an independent security audit. It therefore does not claim that provider-side audio is immediately deleted, that the app is zero-retention, or that transcription works offline.

Confirm current desktop behavior and Groq policies before processing confidential, regulated, medical, legal, financial, or client data.

Current data path

A high-level product flow, not an independent implementation audit.

1. Record on the Windows device

Wisprr captures microphone input in the desktop application when the user starts dictation.

2. Send audio for transcription

Transcription requires internet access. The application sends audio to Groq using the API key supplied by the user.

3. Receive text

Groq returns transcription output. Optional text transforms may require an additional provider request.

4. Use and store output locally

Wisprr is designed to keep settings, history, and Notes in the desktop application on the user's device.

Shared responsibility

Your Groq account

You create and control the Groq API key. Groq's terms, pricing, quotas, rate limits, model availability, security controls, and retention policies apply.

Your Windows device

Device access, disk encryption, operating-system updates, backups, malware protection, and account security remain the user's responsibility.

Use the current installer from the official download page and compare its SHA-256 checksum before installation.

Review the primary provider documentation

Groq is the external processor used for the documented transcription workflow. Its documentation and legal terms are the primary sources for model behavior, limits, and provider-side controls.
